He covers fingers and toes in detail, demonstrating how to draw them flat and in foreshortened perspective from multiple angles. He demonstrates some easy shortcuts and tricks, including use of negative space and dynamic folding between the fingers and thumb.

You can get away with quite a bit when rendering the human figure, but get the hand wrong and it sticks out like a sore thumb. Perhaps the following tutorials can help you and I draw better hands. Loads of tattooed hands on TattooPort. Nice little tutorial by Ron Lemen.
Once you are comfortable with the proportions of the hand it will be easier to draw it in different positions. For now let's concentrate on the basic "Spread Fingered" hand. Follow along and study your own hand as you go.
